Robyn Limberg, DVM

Owner/Veterinarian

Dr. Robyn Limberg is the clinic owner and one of our two veterinarians. She is a graduate (a LONG time ago) of St. Clair High School. She attended St. Clair County Community College and Michigan State University, graduating with a BS in biology in 1988. Midway through her college career, she developed a rare illness that left her profoundly deaf. A year later, she received a cochlear implant, which is a type of hearing assistive device. Once the dust had settled from adapting to deafness and the implant, she returned to MSU and in 1994 became the first deaf student to earn a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. She has a life-long love of animals, and a childhood experience with a beloved family pet, Gretta, being hit by a car and having her life saved by a local veterinarian (Dr. Donald Konyha), combined to produce a passion for veterinary medicine.

She got her start in the veterinary field as kennel staff for a local clinic way back in 1979/1980, and from there progressed to helping in surgery and appointments during high school and college. After graduating from vet school, she spent the better part of two decades as an associate veterinarian, which gave her more time to be mom to her three now adult children. As the kids grew up and became more independent, Dr. Robyn yearned to provide a more comprehensive approach to veterinary medicine so in 2012, made the decision to start her own practice and Riverview Veterinary Center came to be.

Outside of work, her three kids are all grown and in various stages of living independently or at home, as the need arises, and she shares her home with too many animals to list, but we’ll give it that Spartan try! At the time of printing, there are 5 dogs ranging from 15 ½ years to 7 years (Jingle, Vinnie, Ralfie, Shazbatt and Arthur), 4 horses (Maverick, Cosmo, and miniature horses Rowdy and Rojo), 5 goats (Bagel, Opal, Klaus, Lenny and Biscotti), 6 cats ranging from 17 ½ years to 5 years (Crayola, Raisin, Gene-E, Yeti, Devlyn the foster fail, and Seymour, the shared neighborhood cat), and a dozen hens. There is also a foster cat, Ramona, with kittens that will stay until homes can be found for them all—this pattern tends to repeat about once a year!

Dr. Robyn is an active 4H leader for Vetquest veterinary science club and Bitz of Luck horse (and sometimes dog) club. She is a lifelong active member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, ringing handbells, serving as host for coffee hours, and recently has discovered euchre parties! She enjoys crafting (crochet, paper crafts and beading), reading and gardening, attending live theatre events, and "Girls Weekends” with a close group of heart-sisters. Her most favorite thing is spending time with her amazing kids, who are now amazing adults.

Her favorite part of the job is a balance between enjoying the experience of getting to know the pets as pups and kittens and following them throughout their lives; getting to know the clients and develop lasting relationships with them, and having a truly amazing staff that keeps the workday running smoothly (or at least keeps the chaos somewhat organized!)
